What is Aliyah?
Aliyah is the official process through which an eligible person moves to Israel under the relevant Israeli law and procedure. This guide explains the route; the final decision is made through the official Israeli process.

Your first four actions
- Read the eligibility guide and list the family relationships, Jewish-status evidence or conversion evidence that may be relevant.
- Open the official Jewish Agency Aliyah route or use the authorised channel you have been directed to.
- Create one secure master list for documents, deadlines, questions and caseworker requests.
- Hold an early household meeting about work, schools, healthcare, community, budget and possible timing.
Build the evidence file
Start with identity and civil-status documents, then add eligibility evidence requested for your route. Do not assume every document requires an apostille, translation or new copy.
- Record every name spelling used across passports and certificates.
- Ask whether the authority needs an original, certified copy, translation or apostille.
- Keep encrypted scans and a separate inventory of where each original is stored.
- For children, confirm custody, consent, adoption and name-change evidence early.
Plan life, not only the application
- Money: prepare a first-year budget, exchange plan and emergency reserve.
- Work: check licensing, Hebrew needs, salary expectations and remote-working tax exposure.
- Family: compare schools, support needs, communities and realistic travel arrangements.
- Health: plan medication continuity and bring useful summaries without relying on UK systems remaining available.
- UK exit: review HM Revenue & Customs, pensions, National Insurance, housing, banks and retained UK interests.
