Employment and jobs in Israel

Start with the work you want to do, then check language, licensing, location, salary structure and cross-border tax. A job title that transfers easily may still sit inside a different employment system.

The UK-to-Israel lens

Translate a UK career into an Israeli plan

1

Check whether your profession is regulated and what evidence is needed from UK employers or institutions.

2

Prepare references, qualifications, transcripts and a concise CV before access becomes difficult.

3

If retaining UK work or a company, take advice on payroll, tax residence, permanent establishment and social security.

The short version

Three things to keep in view

1

Check regulated-profession recognition before relying on a role or salary.

2

Compare gross pay, mandatory deductions and the complete benefits package.

3

Remote work for a UK employer can create tax, payroll and corporate issues in both countries.

01

Finding work before Aliyah

  • Use LinkedIn, professional networks, recruiters, community contacts and employer websites.
  • State location, work authorisation timing and Hebrew level accurately.
  • Prepare a concise CV focused on outcomes, tools, languages and relevant availability.
  • Ask whether interviews, testing or licensing can begin before the move.
02

Questions for an Israeli employer

  • What is the gross monthly salary and normal working pattern?
  • Which pension, travel, meal, leave or other benefits are included and from when?
  • Is the quoted amount before all employee deductions?
  • Is Hebrew required for the work itself, internal systems or clients?
  • Where must duties be performed and is remote work from another country permitted?
03

Professional licensing and qualifications

Some professions require Israeli recognition, examinations, supervised practice, language ability or registration. Start with the responsible regulator rather than an employer’s assumption.

  • Collect degree certificates, transcripts, course detail, licences and good-standing evidence.
  • Ask whether documents require authentication or translation.
  • Do not resign from a current role based only on an informal equivalence opinion.
  • Check whether Ministry employment or vocational-Hebrew support may apply.
04

Self-employment and companies

  • Decide where the activity is managed, performed and contracted.
  • Obtain advice on Israeli registration, invoicing, social insurance and tax.
  • Review whether a UK company, partnership or payroll remains appropriate after the move.
  • Separate business cash-flow planning from household Sal Klita assumptions.
05

Working remotely for a UK employer

Physical work in Israel can affect employee tax, social insurance, payroll and the employer’s own obligations. Contract wording alone does not decide the result.

Obtain coordinated UK and Israeli tax and employment advice before relying on a remote-work arrangement.
